Definitions: Measles: A highly communicable and deadly viral disease caused by the measles virus, a member of the genus Morbillivirus in the family paramyxoviridae. The disease is typically spread via droplets or direct contact with the nasal or throat secretions of those infected. Measles is on the most readily communicable and deadly childhood rash/fever illnesses. Measles is preventable by vaccine.
